Hot weekend ahead, plus our first named storm of the 2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — When your highs average around 82 and you’re expecting highs at 89 and 90, you know it’s much warmer than normal. Hot temperatures are going to be the main story heading into the weekend as our high today and tomorrow will be around 89, with more 90s arriving on Mother’s Day. Expect sunshine with a few more clouds on Sunday.

Rain chances return around Tuesday/Wednesday as a cold front enters our area. You can say goodbye to the 90s starting Wednesday and moreso on Thursday as temperatures continue their decline. Right now, I have the high on Thursday in the low 80s and possibly upper 70s, but that last part is a little more uncertain.

Hurricane season officially starts June 1st, but the first named storm of the season (Ana) has already formed! Don’t worry: that doesn’t mean we’re going to have an active season. It’s atypical to get a storm this early, but it does happen, and many times, the season doesn’t end up being an active one. Subtropical Storm Ana is nearly stationary off the Atlantic coast and will move to the north over the weekend, making landfall in the Carolinas. The main concern is rain as the winds are nothing to write home about.

Middle Georgia will be unaffected by this, so enjoy the weekend sun!
