More than 300 Georgia students take part in Astronauts’ Day at the Museum of Aviation

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – More than 300 elementary and middle school students got a chance to visit the Museum of Aviation for the 26th annual Young Astronauts’ Day Saturday.

First through eighth graders filled the Century Flight Hanger to learn about NASA space centers.

There were 15 science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) workshops held during the event.

“We actually had to open a new set of workshops this year because we were filling up so fast,” says Candi James, History Program Coordinator for the museum.

Bonaire Middle School Choir performed for the crowd, which was made up of students from across Georgia.

The STEM workshops were taught by museum staff members and volunteer leaders from the Middle Georgia community, including Robins Air Force Base and the Houston County School System.
