Storms possible today, drier and slightly cooler weather arrives tomorrow

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Still hot today, but rain will keep temperatures down for parts of Middle Georgia. What we have is a cold front that is moving into the southeast. Ahead of this front are cloud cover and rain. Today, we’re getting more clouds in the afternoon, and rain/storms rolling through the area.

The timing so far looks like this: around noon, we’ll start to see a few showers coming into northwestern counties in the area. There won’t be too many of them yet. However, by 2:00 and 3:00, more rain and possible storms will pop-up in the area. By this evening around 9:00 and 10:00, most of the rain will have dissipated or will have moved out of the area.

Severe weather will not be an issue at all; the only issue is the chance for a storm. In other words, your typical spring storm. Unless you get a heavy dose of rain, highs will still be hot in the upper 80s (around 89 in Macon). By tomorrow, more sun will arrive in the area, but temperatures will be a bit cooler than today with 87 for a high. By Thursday morning, we’ll feel more of the effects of the cold front. We’ll wake up to upper 50s and low 60s, and the high will be around 85.
