2015 Spring Home and Garden Show raises money for college students
PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – If you visited the 2015 Spring Home and Garden show in Perry this weekend, not only did you find beautiful plants and accessories for your home, you also contributed to a great cause.
The annual fundraiser helps students who are going to study horticulture or agriculture in college.
One master gardener says it’s important for kids to know where their food comes from.
“They think it comes from the grocery store. They think it’s all frozen and quick prepare. If we don’t teach those kids where the food comes from and how to grow it, then who’s going to feed me when I grow old?” asked Teddie Berry, a member of the Master Gardeners of Central Georgia.
Officials from the garden show say in the past they’ve raised 18-thousand dollars. That money provided college scholarships for four students.
