Tractor trailer catches fire on I-475

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County sheriff’s deputies are investigating an accident that happened on I-475 early Monday morning. 

The driver of a tractor trailer swerved out of the way, attempting to avoid a car trying to merge into the lane where the big rig was, causing the truck to roll over. 

The cab of the truck caught fire. The driver crawled out of the cab’s passenger side to escape. Paramedics treated him on the scene with minor injuries. No one else was injured. 

According to a news release, the truck was carrying about 39,000 lbs. of paper products. There is no description of the vehicle that was said to have caused the accident.
