GDOT closes ramp, lanes near 1-16/1-75 split for maintenance

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Department of Transportation is warning drivers of ramp and lane closures in Bibb County.

According to a Facebook post from GDOT, the I-16 eastbound ramp from I-75 southbound closed at 7 p.m. Tuesday for maintenance roadwork. Drivers will be detoured to Exit 164. Crews will be on scene fixing the roadway until 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Starting Wednesday at 7 p.m., GDOT will close two lanes on I-16 westbound just north of the Spring Street on-ramps. Crews will be fixing the roadway on and near the bridge over the Ocmulgee River. The roadwork is scheduled to end Thursday at 5 a.m.

GDOT is urging motorists to take extreme caution while driving through the work zone and reduce their speeds. There will be message signs, barrels, and cones to alert drivers of the upcoming changes.
