3 Central seniors sign letters of intent
Robert Cummings and Chris Sparks say they’re fine with facing each other for the next four years.
Cummings signed with Benedict College, Sparks with Albany State University both teams play in the same conference.
“It’s been real crazy. It’s been some tough times, and the majority of the year I was playing injured, but I just had to push through it,” Cummings said.
“When we’re on the field, it’s business. We can be friends later after the game, but when we’re on the field it’s business,” Sparks said.
Yakira Wilson signed on to play soccer at Mississippi Valley State University. She tore her ACL last fall, and didn’t know if she could play the sport she loved on the next level.
“You have to do a lot of tryouts and it’s not the same. They don’t really recruit you. You kind of have to recruit yourself and when I tore my ACL I was like well I won’t be able to go to any tryouts. I won’t be able to tell any coaches to come and see me. Luckily I had a highlight tape,” Wilson said.
Wilson adds she shopped around her highlight tape to the coaches at Mississippi Valley State and they were one of the few who stuck with her even after her injury.
