Macon group gives away clothes to needy
Dominant Divaz United (DDU) held its 2nd annual Warm-A-Heart clothing drive Saturday.
More than 50 people strolled through numerous clothing tables inside Frank Johnson Community Center gym.
One of the goals of the clothing drive was to bring awareness about the large number of under-clothed residents in Middle Georgia, according to DDU President, Tanisha Johnson.
Tables were labeled men, women, children and toddler’s clothing. There were also shoes and toys. All of the items were free.
Dominant Divaz United say they have a very good reason for offering the free clothes.
“To let the people of our community know that we do care,” says DDU Vice President, Val Booker. “There’s someone out there. We want to make sure they know in their time of need we’re here and if there’s ever something that they want, to reach out to the Divas. We’re more than happy to try and help.
Booker says people were lined up at the community center doors 30 minutes before the start of the clothing drive.
