FPD Announces Opening of Satellite Campus

First Presbyterian Day School announced its plan to expand.

The satellite campus will be housed at First Presbyterian Church. The purpose is to make the FPD education available and convenient to those business men and women with children working in the downtown area.

The new school will mirror it’s main campus and offer the same Christian–based education.

“Downtown certainly is a place where lots of folks come into work so it seem to be a good strategic spot to look if we could make something happen downtown,” said Headmaster at FPD Gregg Thompson.

The school received approval from both the church session and the school board to pursue opening a three and four-year-old program that will open in the Fall.

Everything from the admissions process to the curriculum provided will be the same as the main campus.

“We currently have a 3K waiting list for this campus and first grade also has a waiting list and fifth grade so right now we’re at that capacity here which gives us even more reason to open the downtown campus,” said Director of Admissions Cheri Frame.

The ultimate plan is to add one grade per year up through fifth grade.

The process to expand has been in the works for a few years now.

Pastor Chip Miller at First Presbyterian Church says, “We’re glad to partner with them to offer our facilities in anyway possible to help them accomplish that goal.”

The satellite campus will be limited to 12 students for 3K and 16 students for 4K. FPD downtown will also allow early drop-off beginning at 7:30
and late pick up until 6:30.
