Bulldogs’ Gurley, Herrera win weekly SEC honors
ATHENS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia tailback Todd Gurley and linebacker Amarlo Herrera were honored for their performances against Clemson Saturday.
Gurley, a junior, split Offensive Player of the Week honors with Texas A&M’s Kenny Hill, while Herrera was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Gurley finished with a school record 293 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns to help the Bulldogs down Clemson, 45-21. He also returned a kickoff 100 yards in the second quarter to tie the game at 21.
Herrera, a senior, tied his career high with 12 tackles, including sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss. He anchored a defense that held the Tigers scoreless in the second half and to just 15 yards of total offense in the final two quarters.
