Teen charged with assault after shooting 13 year-old brother

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — An 18 year-old has been charged with aggravated assault after shooting his brother with a pistol.
According to a release from the Warner Robins Police Department, Sunday morning, around 11:00 a.m. on March 20th, officers responded to the scene of a shooting on 206 Northlake Drive in Warner Robins. Officers found that the victim of the shooting had been a 13 year-old, who was then taken by ambulance to Navicent-Macon for surgery. The victim is now in stable condition, but will have to undergo further surgery.
Witness statements and preliminary investigation found that the victim and several other friends had gathered to smoke marijuana, during which the victim’s brother, 18 year-old Javon Keith Russell, was handling a pistol when he shot his brother in the stomach.
Russell has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Reckless Conduct, and is now being held at the Houston County Detention Facility.
