Macon Historic District Home Damaged by Fire

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A historic Macon home built in the 1800’s went up in flames last night. However, the house isn’t a complete loss.

Macon-Bibb firefighters responded to the blaze in the historic district of the city on Cole Street around 9 p.m., Monday night.

Firefighters were able to salvage most of the home. Flames rose to the second floor, and the back terrace suffered extensive damage.

Neighbors in the area praised the Macon-Bibb fire department for responding to the blaze within minutes.

One of the fire stations is located just blocks away from the Macon Historic District.

No one was injured in the house fire.

Macon-Bibb County Fire Department says the cause of the blaze is still under investigation
