Save the Children Summer Camp offers a variety of activities
Reciting Bible verses, doing arts and crafts, playing basketball the “save the children” summer camp has it all.
George Foster and Annette Lucear started the camp 17 years ago. and, because of budget cuts, they cut the program from two months to one month.
Foster says they started the camp out of necessity. it’s goal is to help deter the children from getting involved in crime.
“Naturally if a child is doing something constructive and he recieves the supervision that he’s at liberty to what they say, the devil’s workshop,” says Foster. “It helps give them something constructive to do we try to provide them with an environment where they can still learn.”
“Save the Children” summer camp will continue through the end of June.
Lucear says they will be working to get a grant in January to continue the camp next year.
