Update: Hunt on for escaped inmate in Monroe County
According to a news release, Prisoner James Kelly was found at a hunting camp on highway 42 south near Tobesofkee Creek.
Hunters in the area spotted Kelly under a covered shed on the property.
The escapee ran from the hunters but returned to the area.
One of the hunters contacted the sheriff’s office and notified deputies.
Kelly was arrested around 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
He was turned over to the Fugitive Task Force and take to the DOC State Diagnostic Center in Jackson
According to a news release, James Douglas Kelly escaped from the Burrus Correctional Training Center Wednesday afternoon.
Kelly fled while on a outside work detail.
He is serving a current sentence for a conviction in Jackson County on charges of burglary, obstructing a law enforcement officer, and family violence.
