Weather Forecast for May 22, 2014

Hotter than yesterday.  That’s the story for Thursday, as ridging in the jet stream keeps temperatures well above the average (around 93 is the forecasted high).  Unless rainfall early next week cools things off, we’re likely to see 90s in at least portions of Middle Georgia for the next seven days.

The next system which comes into the area is some time early next week.  Model runs so far have not been impressive with this system as far as rainfall amounts, and with uncertainty in the timing and how much rainfall the system will bring, we have kept rain chances low for early next week until there is more uniformity with the models.  One thing we can see is that if it brings rain, it could also bring storms.  Otherwise, certainty is low for the timing and rainfall amounts associated with this next system.
