Alleged gunman in Pine Hill Drive shooting arrested

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man, named as the gunman in the Pine Hill shooting is now behind bars.

The Southeast Regional Task Force arrested 19-year-old Amond Rashad Norwood. Norwood was arrested around 9 a.m., Tuesday at 866 Roseview Drive, in Macon, according to the task force’s supervisor John Edgar.

The task force supervisor said his office received a Crimestoppers tip, of where Norwoood was hiding out.

Edgar said agents and officers surrounded the Roseview house, and noticed the front door was open.

“When we approached the front door, someone slammed it shut,” said Edgar.

The task force arrested four men they found inside house, where they found approximately 5.7 ounces of marijuana and two guns. Matthew Daniel, Kenyae Patterson, Chatabeon Gainey, and Norwood.

Daniel, Patterson, Gainey are charged with possession of marijuana, with intent to distribute. Gainey, who was on probation at the time of the arrest, is also charged with felony possession of a firearm. Norwood is charged with aggravated assault.

According to Edgar, Norwood was out on bond at the time of the shooting.

Norwood is accused of shooting inside, a house located at, 1935 Pine Hill Drive, where bullets pierced through the front windows.

Prior to the shooting Bibb County Sheriff’s invesigators said a fight broke out between 20-year-old Chavis Stokes and Norwood. Stokes brother, 23-year-old Deangelo Stokes was at the home during the time of the incident, but was not involved in the fight.

After the argument, Norwood left the home on Pine Hill Drive and returned with a gun and began shooting.

Deangelo Stokes ran out of the home, and shot back at Norwood. Deputies say during the incident Stokes broke his leg in the process.

Stokes was treated at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
