MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia held a special luncheon today, to honor five ladies as
“2014 Women of Distinction.”
“2014 Women of Distinction.”
Kathryn Dennis, Lynn Farmer, Patricia Jordan, Joni Woolf, and Marilyn Hill are this years recipients.
In 1944 Hill was among 14 girls in the first African American girl scouts troop. Hill also served as the first Waterfront Director for Girl Scout Pine Lake camps.
Sue Else is the CEO of Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia. She says the sky is the limit for young girls participating in the girls scout program.
“We want these young girls who are in the girl scouts to know, that they can do anything that they set their mind to and what better way to know that, than from the mentors in this community,” says Else.
The girls scouts are now preparing for summer camp, and while they are there they will learn how to canoe.
