Warner Robins High girls shed locks to help cancer patients
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – High school girls in Warner Robins decided it was time to part ways with their long hair….all for a great cause.
The ninth annual Locks of Love event went on at Warner Robins High school Thursday afternoon.
The program is in memory of Joanna McAfee, a 6 year old, who while losing her hair, also lost her battle with cancer. Randi Collier, a teacher at Warner Robins high, thinks the opportunity to donate a couple of inches of hair can change someone’s life.
“Guys may not understand it, but for little girls losing all of your hair, there’s just something about not having your hair. So when you can actually give someone their dignity back in the face of what they’re having to go through. There’s just no greater gift,” Collier said.
Collier says each of the girls who participated donated around 10 inches of hair each!
