Mercer men’s basketball lands South Carolina transfer
Ringer, who will sit the 2014-15 academic year due to NCAA Division I transfer rules, comes to Mercer after spending one season with the Gamecocks.
A native of McDonough, Ringer is a six-foot-nine forward out of Eagles Landing High School. After leading Eagle’s Landing to its first-ever state championship in 2013, the 255-pound prospect was ranked the No. 7 player in the state by ESPN.com and tabbed to the Georgia Sportswriters Honorable Mention team.
As a freshman at South Carolina, Ringer appeared in 28 games and averaged 10.4 minutes, 2.1 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. Notable performances include a nine-point, seven-rebound outing at Texas A&M on January 29 and a seven-point, four-rebound effort at Florida on January 8.
Ringer has three years of remaining eligibility and is expected to suit up for the Bears in the 2015-16 season.
