Macon-Bibb Salt Trucks Prepare To Go

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The trucks are ready to roll.

That’s according to Macon-Bibb Public Works Superintendent Cliff Howard.

Howard said the salt trucks were loaded and ready to go.

In fact, they’ve been ready since yesterday.

He said they didn’t salt the roads Wednesday morning because it would have dissolved too quickly.

“We’ve got people in every area of Macon-Bibb closely monitoring the roads and as soon as they give us any sign that there’s any ice on any bridges, any roads, we’ll be moving with the salt spreaders,” said Howard.

The trucks received the “go” signal at about 9 p.m.

“Overnight they’re expecitng the temperatures to dip below freezing and at that time we’ll be in full force and action,” said Howard. “We’ll have all of our crews out, responding to downed trees and certainly keeping the bridges and major intersections salted.”

Howard also said they could cover every bridge and major road in Macon Bibb in about 3 hours.
