Georgia College Celebrates Homecoming/Alumni Weekend

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (GCSU RELEASE) – Georgia College will host its Homecoming/Alumni Weekend Feb. 10 through 15.

This year’s theme is “Bobcat Gameday: Let the Games Begin.”

Events include:

Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 8:30 p.m. in Magnolia Ballroom: GC’s Got Talent
Thursday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at Centennial Center:GC Jamfest featuring Battle of the Bands winner The Haze, Seven Handle Circus and co-headliners Ben Rector and Travis Porter
Friday, Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. in Magnolia Ballroom:Alumni Welcome Reception
Saturday, Feb. 15 at 8:30 a.m.: Bobcat Ramble 5K, Tent City Tailgating, Men’s and Women’s basketball games at Centennial Center beginning at 3:30 p.m.

GC Jamfest tickets for the public are available at the DEN, located in the Student Activities Center on Hancock Street. They can be purchased Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $25 per ticket.

Georgia College students receive one free ticket with a valid Bobcat Card and can purchase two tickets at $10 each. Any additional tickets after the first two are $25 each.

Faculty and staff can purchase two tickets at $10 each. Any additional tickets are $25 each.

Alumni can purchase tickets at $10 each via the Homecoming website or by contacting Alumni Relations at 478-445-5771.

GC Jamfest guest artist Seven Handle Circus is a six-piece band from Georgia. Their live performances are infused with elements of rock, punk and alternative music.

Co-headliner Ben Rector has a theory: The beauty of life is in the ordinary moments. His new album, “The Walking in Between,” follows his previous two successful independent releases that together have sold more than 70,000 copies.

The group Travis Porter, also co-headlining GC Jamfest, consists of members Ali (Lakeem Mattox), Quez (Donquez Woods) and Strap (Harold Duncan), who grew up together in Decatur, Georgia. They formed the band with the hope of taking over the rap world from the underground up.
