Heating Technicians Busy Keeping Middle Georgia Homes Warm

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A couple of Middle Georgia heating technicians say they have been pretty busy keeping customers warm.

Scott Lucas, who works for Buckey Holland Heating and Air, checked out a furnace at a Macon home where the homeowner complained that the house was not heating up in the mornings.

Lucas says, a common mistake people make is setting the temperature above seventy-five.
According to Lucas, when the temperatures plummet people should not program their thermostat.

“What you are doing is you’re setting it back then you’re trying to catch it back -up, four, five, or six degrees,” says Lucas. “When it’s really cold it actually makes your unit work harder than it would if you would just find something that’s comfortable and left it there.”

Quint Jones, with Total Comfort Cooling and Heating, suggests you check your home for good insulation, seal up drafts around the doors and windows, and keep your filters clean.
He has a simple solution for people who have two story homes. He says reverse the ceiling fan, to better distribute the heat between floors.

They both agree the key to having your furnace ready to handle winter weather is to get it checked annually.
