Candidates for District 136 Make Last Minute Push For Voters

Residents of District 136 have been without a State Representative since November 30th, when then newly re-elected Representative Tony Sellier died of congestive heart failure.

Three candidates, Judye Sellier, Robert Dickey, and Sharon Howard are now looking to fill the open seat that represents all of Crawford County and parts of Bibb, Peach, Houston, Monroe, Upson, and Lamar Counties.

There are two Republicans in the race Judye Sellier, the widow of the late District 136 State Representative Tony Sellier, and Robert Dickey, owner of Dickey Farms in Musella.

Sharon Howard, the only Democrat in the race, is a single mom and surgical technician in Warner Robins. Howard also ran against the late Representative Sellier in November and lost.

Judye Sellier says her experience going up to Atlanta with her husband has prepared her for the job. She says it has also helped her build relationship with fellow politicians. She believes if she is elected she can get down to business right away.

Businessman Robert Dickey says he believes the government should be run like an efficient business. He also says he has stronger qualification for what the district needs.

Howard wants to put education at the top priority. She says in order to improve the State’s economy education has to be addressed first.
All three candidates believe that job creation and addressing the $2 billion budget shortfall are also top priorities.

Election day is this Tuesday, February 15th.
