Middle Georgia Churches Unite the Flame

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Area churches are joining forces to show a sign of solidarity, during the upcoming “Unite the Flame” event.

The purpose of the event is to bring awareness to sex slavery, homelessness, feeding the hungry and other issues facing Middle Georgia communities, according to the organizer, Paul Tindell.

Tindell said “Unite the Flame” is a catalyst for bridging communities together.

“God has given me the vision bring unity between the churches,” says Tindell. “So, that we can accomplish more for the Kingdom, and have one mind and one spirit in the community. That way everybody can see the love of Christ.” 

Tindell said he hopes to see all of the various congregations from across middle georgia at the Macon City Auditorium on Jan. 24.

“We want everyone marching in downtown Macon unified in Christ,” he adds. “Ready to put their feet to work so we can make a change for Christ. With over 400 churches here in the Macon community, if only a quarter or half of those came together, imagine what we could accomplish in the city.”

There are two services scheduled for “Unite the Flame” The first service will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. The next service is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m., and end at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for each service is $5.

“Unite the Flame is about bringing together our community as one,” said Unite the Flame Worship Leader and Guest Speaker, Deborah Hightower. “Celebrating our diversity and celebrating our likeness, setting aside our differences of denominations and backgrounds. We want to be together, unified in Christ.”

The event will conclude with a free candlelight march through downtown Macon.
