GCSU Women’s Basketball Ranked in Top-25 Poll For Second Week
LILBURN, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – The Georgia College women’s basketball team has been nationally ranked No. 24 in the most recent USA TODAY Sports Division II Top-25 Coaches’ Poll. The Bobcats received 84 votes and remained in the top-25 for a second consecutive week.
Of the four teams in the poll from the southeast, Georgia College and the University of North Georgia are the Peach Belt Conference’s (PBC) only representatives. North Georgia replaced another PBC team, Clayton State University, at No. 19.
Ironically, both PBC top-25 teams are in action tonight at 5:30 p.m. in Dahlonega, Ga. UNG was ranked the highest of four newcomers to the poll that included Wayne State University (No. 20), Fort Hays State University (No. 23), and Lewis University (No. 25).
The USA TODAY Sports board of coaches is made up of 33 head coaches at Division II institutions and they are all members of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
