Wheeler County Middle School Cheerleaders Take 4th at Gator Bowl Competition

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia might have lost at the Gator Bowl, but a group of middle school cheerleaders were busy making their city proud.

The Cheer Dawgs from Wheeler County Middle School were in a national competition to ring in the new year.  It was their first time competing in anything like it, and they took home fourth place.

The girls also performed in the halftime show in front of more than 60,000 people.

“They had so much fun and met many new friends from around the United States who loved their southern accents,” says assistant coach Kristy Ricks.  “From getting up every morning at 6 a.m. and going to sleep every night after 12, these girls always had smiles on their faces and a positive attitude.”
