Bobcats’ Thomas Named to NABC Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (GCSU RELEASE) – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced its Honors Court for 2012-13, with Georgia College’s Royal Thomas (LaGrange, Ga.) being named to the academic list.

In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:

1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.

2. Cumulative G.P.A. of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2012-13 academic year.

3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.

4. Member of an NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution.

More than 700 student-athletes were named to the list from 285 different colleges and universities across the country. A special education major, Thomas was a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Gold Scholar last season, meaning he posted over a 3.75 GPA for the 2012-13 school year.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Dec. 7 at 3:30 p.m., traveling to Georgia Southwestern State University.
