GC Women’s Soccer Team Gives Back to the Community

EVANS, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – The Georgia College women’s soccer team and head coach Hope Clark took part in the Breakfast with the Champions, hosted by the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) in between the semifinal and championship rounds of the 2013 PBC Tournament Saturday, Nov. 9.

The Breakfast with the Champions community service event has taken place for the last six years. This year’s event was the most attended, with 150 children ranging from ages 6-to-12. The clinic was hosted at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga. allowing the kids to interact with the PBC players competing in the PBC Tournament. The athletes were divided into groups according to position and the children divided into groups of 10-12. The groups allowed the children to get advice and interact with the players.

“It was a great event for the community and the student-athletes involved,” said Coach Clark. “It allowed student-athletes from many PBC schools to interact with one another and use their talents to serve the community.”

The Georgia College women’s soccer team finished the 2013 season with PBC Tournament Runner-up honors. The Bobcats defeated No. 3 seeded Armstrong Atlantic State University and No. 2 seeded Columbus State University, both with a 2-1 score.
