GC Volleyball’s Rice Named To Pepsi Bash All-Tournament Team
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – The Georgia College volleyball team’s Rachel Rice (Johns Creek, Ga.) earned the honor of being named to the 2013 Pepsi Bash At The Beach All-Tournament Team for her performance Nov. 11-12.
The All-Tournament Team consisted of players that were voted in by the coaches of each team. Rice was accompanied by Caleen Hawkins from Claflin University, Kristin Koch from GRU-Augusta, Kristen Arvidson from Stonehill College, and both Christina Alessi and Melissa Buckingham from Palm Beach Atlantic University.
Rice had an outstanding tournament playing in all 11 sets throughout the weekend. She recorded a total of 41 kills and a hitting percentage of .310. In the Bobcats’ match against Stonehill, Rice logged 22 of her total kills, averaging 3.73 kills per set. Rice tallied 25 digs for the weekend as well, averaging 2.27 digs per set.
The Bobcats won their first match against Claflin 3-0, then fell to Palm Beach Atlantic 3-0 and Stonehill 3-2.
The Bobcats’ next match will be a home bout in the Centennial Center against Francis Marion University (17-5, 9-4 PBC), Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
