MGSC Women’s Basketball Gets First Win of Season
COCHRAN, Georgia (MGSC RELEASE) – The MGSC Knights women’s basketball team defeated Clinton Junior College on Wednesday night to get back to .500 at 1-1 on the season. The Knights fell behind 4-0 before taking the lead at 8-6 early in the game. The score got to a 32-12 lead for the Knights before the Bears fought back to within 7 at half trailing 37-30.
The Knights came out in the second half and led by as many as 15 but in the final 5 minutes, the Bears go to as close as 4 before the Knights eventually went on to win 74-66 in their second game of the season.
The Knights were led in scoring by Va’Queshia Hall out of Howard High School in Macon with 15 points and she added 10 rebounds and 3 blocks to her stat sheet. Deundria Clark added 14 points, Mikia Robinson 11 and 8 rebounds, and Jada Haynes contributed 10 while adding 8 assists.
Coach Ligon indicated in his season preview the Knights would have better depth this season than last and it showed with 31 points off their bench compared to the 12 for Clinton.
The Knights next game is scheduled for 11/9 at Clinton College, then at Brewton Parker 11/11 before returning home 11/19 and 11/20 at 5:30 p.m. both days.
