Ballistics Testing May Provide Clues in Monroe Co. Killings

Ballistics evidence may yield new clues in a shooting that killed two people, and critically injured another in Monroe county.

An autopsy is expected to be complete tomorrow on the bodies of Alayna Pruitt, 43, and her mother, Sherry Price.   Coroner Joey Proctor says both women were shot once in the head between Friday night and Saturday morning at their home on Debra Drive.  Pruitt’s husband, Ronald Pruitt, was also shot in the head.  As of Saturday, he was reportedly listed in critical condition at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.

Sheriff John Bittick is waiting for the medical examiner to recover bullets from the victim’s bodies to see if they came from a gun recovered at the crime scene. 

The coroner suspects domestic violence played a role in the killings because all the victims were family members, he said.  Sheriff Bittick would not speculate on a motive and said investigators have not talked to the lone survivor, Ronald Pruitt, who is using a ventilator to breathe.

Tabatha Mosley, a neighbor, said Alayna Pruitt had a medical condition and was unable to work.  Ronald Pruitt would drive his wife to doctors appointments every week, she said.  Mosley described their relationship as “very loving.”
