Turner, Bobcat Men Take Championships at Bridgestone-Pacer Invite

AIKEN, S.C. (GCSU RELEASE) – Sophomore Trevor Turner’s (Snellville, Ga.) individual title paced the Georgia College men’s cross country team to the team championship Friday at the Bridgestone-Pacer Invitational, hosted by USC Aiken. The victory marks back-to-back wins for GC men’s cross country.

Turner led the team for the first time this season, breaking the tape in 27:42 for the 8K race, as the Bobcats took the top-five slots, finishing with the lowest possible score of 15. Paul McNeil (Dunwoody, Ga.) was second in 28:14.

Crossing the line in third was James Ryden (Atlanta) as he finished 11 seconds after McNeil, with fourth place belonging to Michael Warrick (Marietta, Ga.) in 28:33. Rounding out the scoring finishes for the Bobcats was Paul Orr (Fairfield, Ga.) posting a 29:16 in fifth.

Georgia College beat Coker College by 37. Peach Belt Conference (PBC) opponent Francis Marion University placed third.

The Bobcats took the top seven slots in the race, as Matt Tippins (Hoschton, Ga.) was sixth in 29:37 and Matt Sutton (Norcross, Ga.) seventh in 29:44.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Captain Chris Invitational in Newport News, Va., hosted by Christopher Newport University.
