GC Women’s Cross Country Wins Bridgestone-Pacer Invite

AIKEN, S.C. (GCSU RELEASE) – Placing all five scoring runners in the top-10, the Georgia College women’s cross country team won the team title Friday night at the Bridgestone-Pacer Invitational, hosted by USC Aiken.

Lena White (Smyrna, Ga.) led the team in second place overall, crossing the line in 20:17 for the 5K race. Rachel Pasko (Jefferson, Ga.) continued her marked improvement as a sophomore, finishing third in 20:44.

Fourth place went to Taylor Roeck (Cumming, Ga.) as she finished two seconds after Pasko, and sixth place belonged to Bekah Houston (Dalton, Ga.) in 21:11. Rounding out the scoring finishes for the Bobcats was Whitney Sweet (Roswell, Ga.) posting a 21:49 in ninth.

Georgia College totaled 23 points, beating Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foe Francis Marion University by 26. Fellow PBC school and host USCA placed third.

Taking the individual title was USC Aiken’s Keely Gillespie at 20:16, just a second ahead of White.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Captain Chris Invitational in Newport News, Va., hosted by Christopher Newport University.
