Bobcat Volleyball Falls to Lander in Five Sets
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – The Georgia College volleyball team (3-10, 1-5 PBC) took the second and fourth set in their match against Lander University (10-3, 2-2 PBC) Friday night at the Centennial Center. Forcing the deciding fifth set, Lander rallied and defeated the Bobcats 15-11.
The Bobcats took the second and fourth sets 25-15 and 25-22, while Lander took the first, third, and fifth sets, 25-20, 25-14, and 15-11.
Rachel Reynolds (Marietta, Ga.) led the squad with 17 kills and hitting .217. Rachel Rice (Johns Creek, Ga.) recorded her season high with 12 kills, as did Ashley Savransky (Roswell, Ga.) with nine kills. Caroline Long (Roswell, Ga.) matched her season best with nine kills.
Caroline Ham (Marietta, Ga.) led the bobcats with 18 digs, aided by 16 from both Rice and Ashton Bigler (Fairborn, Ga.). Ella Anastasiades (Atlanta, Ga.) contributed 13 digs.
The Bobcats hit .173 tonight which was no match for Lander’s .238. The Bearcats had three with double-digit kills coming from Tarryn Angermeier, who led the team with 24, Hannah Dederick with 15, and Kendall Korte with 12.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m., hosting Flagler College.
