GC Men Take First at Bobcat Invitational
MILLEDGEVILE, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – The Georgia College men’s cross country team placed first out of six in their lone home event of the year, the Bobcat Invitational. The 8K race took place Friday, Sept. 13.
Sophomore James Ryden (Atlanta, Ga.) led the way for the Bobcats, posting a time of 29:37, good for third place overall. Close behind Ryden was classmate Trevor Turner (Snellville, Ga.) finishing fourth overall with a time of 29:48. Just one second off the pace of Turner was Paul McNeil (Dunwoody, Ga.) crossing the finish line with a time of 29:49 in fifth place.
The Bobcats also took eighth and ninth place overall, with freshman Matt Sutton (Norcross, Ga.) posting a time of 29:55 and sophomore Michael Warrick (Marietta, Ga.) crossing at 30:01.
The men ran away with the team title, totaling 29 points. Dalton College placed second with 58 points and fellow Peach Belt Conference member Armstrong Atlantic State University was a close third with 61 points. Individual title honors went to Pablo Castro of Armstrong with a time of 29:09.
The Bobcats will be back in action Sept. 21 at the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College in Wenham, Mass.
