Chase Elliott Excited For Return To Short Track Racing At Bristol

BRISTOL, TN –  Dawsonville, Georgia’s Chase Elliott is excited to get back short track racing as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returns to the high banks of Bristol Motor Speedway.

In his first four NASCAR Camping World Truck races, Chase Elliott has finished outside the top five once. Elliott earned a sixth-place finish at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway in his Truck debut on April 6. In the following three Truck races, the driver of the No. 94 Aaron’s Dream Machine/Hendrickcars.com Chevrolet earned two fifth-place finishes and one fourth-place result.

Elliott enters Thursday’s Truck race at Bristol with one NASCAR start under his belt at the historic .533-mile oval. He started 10th and finished 10th there in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East in March 2012. He made his first start at Bristol in the 2010 Pro Cup Series. Elliott started that event 11th and finished fifth.

“I’m really excited to get back to some short track racing for sure. I’ve enjoyed the big tracks and road course racing, but I am looking forward to Bristol,” Elliott said. “I think simply having a couple of races there (Bristol Motor Speedway) in the past can’t hurt. Any kind of experience on a track in the past will help with an upcoming race.”

In 20 NASCAR national series starts on tracks shorter than one mile in length, Elliott has one win, nine top-five finishes, 13 top-10s and one pole position. In 2011, Elliott become the youngest driver to win the prestigious Snowball Derby in Pensacola, Fla. The then 16-year-old driver led a race-high 68 laps at the half-mile Five Flags Speedway en route to Victory Lane.

According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics, Elliott ranks inside the top 10 in multiple categories so far this season. He ranks fourth with an average finish of 5.0 and eighth with an average starting position of 6.3. The driver of the No. 94 Aaron’s Dream Machine/Hendrickcars.com Chevrolet ranks third among closers, and he has gained an average of 4.3 positions in the last 10 percent of the race.

Elliott will sign autographs and participate in a question-and-answer session with fans at the Aaron’s display at the Bristol Motor Speedway Turn 4 concourse Wednesday at 3:50 p.m. local time.
