School Won’t be Delayed After Small Fire at Rutland High
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Rutland High School roof fire won’t delay the start of school.
The blaze broke out Friday while a welder was working on the roof. Bibb Schools’ Risk Management director, David Gowan, says sparks ignited some insulation around one of the building’s A/C units.
Gowan says thanks to the contractor’s quick actions, the accident caused minimal damage. The Macon-Bibb Fire Department released the building to the school district Friday afternoon.
“We have no restrictions on the use of the building, so pre-planning will occur next week as planned,” says Gowan. “There will be no disruption to the first day of school.”
Bibb students go back to school Monday, August 5.
