Economic Boost in Warner Robins Thanks to Little League

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Warner Robins may have been knocked out of the state tournament on the journey to the little league world series, but the city is still seeing big benefits from tourists.

As little leaguers round bases for the chance to represent their state in the world series, the city of Warner Robins is seeing a big boost from the two week Southeast Region Tournament at nearby shops and restaurants.

“If you’re out at dinner when the tournaments are going on and you see cars from the eight states here in the southeast region, you’ve got visitors in the community, they’re in the hotels, they’re having a great time, they’re spending a little money.”

Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce CEO, Morgan Law, thinks national exposure gives local businesses advertising like no other.

“The opportunity to have at least the boys tournament broadcast live on ESPN, live from Warner Robins, Georgia…there’s no way to put a price tag of value on that,” Law said.

“That’s a great opportunity for our businesses to get their products in front of folks to sell, whether it’s hot dogs, hamburgers.”

Or barbecue.

During the tournament, families from out of town are regulars one of the Shane’s Rib Shack in Warner Robins.

“The coolest thing is to be apart of it, watching the kids reactions and their expressions and seeing that part of it,” Danny Rosales owner of one of the Shane’s in Warner Robins said.

“It’s an awesome sight seeing 12,000 people come together for a little league baseball game, hopefully Georgia does it again this year.”

Rosales is a three year owner and a baseball dad. He also volunteers as a scorekeeper at the tournament and says the experience is what brings thousands to the international city.
