Georgia Insurance Commissioner Discuss Affordable Health Care Act Impact
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia’s insurance commissioner paid a visit to Macon Thursday to talk about how the Affordable Health Care Act will impact Georgians.
Ralph Hudgens spoke to the Uptown Rotary club. The new federal law, which starts in the beginning of next year, mandates everyone must have health insurance. If you are caught without insurance, you could be penalized.
Hudgens told the group he disagrees with the act and says it will hurt the younger generation who could see their premium prices double.
“Those are the people that are going to see their rates dramatically increase,” Hudgens said. “Insurance companies are beginning to call that rate shock, it’s what they’re going to suffer when they see their policies and premium notices on January 1, 2014.”
Hudgens says the state attorney general is ready to file a lawsuit on January 2, 2014 asking for an injunction to stop the implementation of the Affordable Health Care Act.
