UPDATE: Monroe County Deputies Investigating Double Homicide

JULIETTE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Monroe County deputies are investigating a double homicide that happened in south Monroe County near Juliette.

According to spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, Allison Willis, the victims are Russell Jacobs and James Pittman Wood. The two were found around 1 p.m. Tuesday inside a home at 170 Woods Road.

Monroe County coroner Joey Proctor says the exact time of death is unknown at this time, but the two were likely killed sometime Monday night.

Willis says Wood lived there. His father found the bodies and called 911. She did not say when the two were killed.

Neighbors we spoke with told us they hadn’t seen or heard anything out of the ordinary over the last few days.

Tuesday afternoon, Willis asked for the public’s help in finding an older model of either a Ford Ranger or Chevy S-10 red pickup truck in connection with the homicides. That truck has been located. Willis could not confirm where deputies found it, or if anyone was inside of the truck.

The GBI is assisting with the investigation. Willis says the bodies are being taken to the GBI crime lab in Atlanta for autopsies.
