The Drift Atlanta Weekend Has More Than Just Drifting

BRASELTON, GA – The Drift Atlanta Weekend this weekend has more than just drifting. The Slammed Society Road Atlanta event is a lifestyle car show featuring jaw-dropping, perfectly dialed-in low riders, classics, drift and race cars. Extreme styling with expert craftsmanship, creativity and attention to detail is a trademark of the Slammed Society car show.

You don’t want to miss this epic event- bigger and better than before – with live music and entertainment, contests, freebies and much more. The Slammed Society car show takes place  Saturday (May 11) from noon to 6 pm on the shelf above the Formula Drift Paddock.

Also, open wheel action on the full Road Atlanta circuit. The full 2.54-mile Road Atlanta road course will host open wheel racing at Drift Atlanta with a doubleheader for the F2000 and F1600 championships. Known for big fields, tight racing and wild finishes, both formulas feature plenty of up-and-coming stars.

The F2000 Championship Series was developed in England in the 1970s. It is a step up from its F1600 little brother, with more horsepower, larger tires, and more sophisticated suspensions and aerodynamics. It is a formula, not a spec car, thus there are numerous chassis designs and a variety of engines. F1600 (often called FF or Formula Ford) has a rich history in both the USA and Europe. It is a non-winged purpose-built single seat racer well known as a training ground for stars of the future (even Aryton Senna honed his skills in FF).

Drift weekend includes the opening round of the 2013 Global Time Attack (GTA) Pro Championship Series. Utilizing the full 2.54-mile, 12-turn circuit, GTA features drivers searching for the perfect lap, racing against the clock with the singular purpose of setting the fastest time. Four different classes compete, separated by drive train configurations: All Wheel Drive, Rear Wheel Drive and Front Wheel Drive. Last year a 2006 Subaru Impreza L driven by Jeff Westphal set the record with a lap of 1:23.628. Entries from all over the USA are coming this year to try and break that record!
