Macon Man Sentenced For Stealing More Than $200,000 In Bank Fraud

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – U.S. Attorney Michael Moore announced Tuesday the sentencing for the man who stole more than $200,000 worth of cash, goods, and services from merchants and credit card companies.

49 year old Macon resident Thanh Quoc Hoang was sentenced to 28 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised released. He was also ordered to pay an assessment fee of $600, as well as $25,000 in restitution fees.

According to a news release from Moore’s office, Hoang defrauded merchants and credit card companies by presenting checks drawn on his personal checking account at Security Bank of Bibb County for goods and services. Hoang did so, knowing there were insufficient funds in his account to pay for those goods and services. As a result, Hoang obtained more than $200,000 worth of cash, goods, and services.
