Stratford Academy Names Mark Farriba New Head Football Coach

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Stratford Academy graduate and former head coach will return to his alma mater to coach the school’s football team.

A release from Stratford Academy says Mark Farriba, a 1974 graduate of Stratford and a member of Stratford’s 2010 inaugural class of the Athletic Hall of Fame, will replace Coach Rodney Collins, who retired this year.

Farriba most recently served as head football coach at Prince Avenue Christian School in Bogart.

“We are very excited to have Coach Farriba return home to lead the Stratford football program,” says Stratford Athletic Director Grady Smith.  “His ability to continue to build on the tradition and excellence of Stratford athletics is very important.”

At Prince Avenue, Farriba led the Wolverines to the 2011 GHSA A State Semifinals and the 2012 GHSA A State Championship game.  Prior to his time at Prince Avenue, Farriba served as head coach at Stratford Academy, leading the Eagles to the 2004 GISA AAA State Championship and at First Presbyterian Day School where his team won the 1985 State Championship.  Throughout his 19-year head coaching career, Farriba has compiled an overall record of 134-81-3.

Following a standout high school career at Stratford where he garnered All-State honors in Football, Basketball and Baseball, Farriba played football at the University of Georgia where he was a member of the 1976 SEC Championship Team. Farriba has also served as a Graduate Assistant Coach at the Universities of Georgia and Kentucky.
