Georgia’s Chase Elliott, David Ragan Gearing up for NASCAR in 2013, Both Drivers in Cordele this Weekend
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – NASCAR’s engines won’t fire up until next month, but this week, media from all over the country are in Charlotte for the annual Sprint Media Tour. 41NBC web manager Terry Miller is there working hard to bring you updates on our local drivers, and today, there was some big news.
The Peach State’s own Chase Elliott is continuing his run up the motorsports ladder.
The son of Bill Elliott will drive a Hendrick Motorsports-built truck in NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series this season.
The first of his nine appearances in one of the sport’s top three divisions will be at Martinsville in April.
Aaron’s, Elliott’s sponsor from the NASCAR K&N East Series, will be on board the No. 94 Chevrolet Silverado, and they’ll also sponsor Elliott in five ARCA races this season.

David Ragan Ready for 2013
Another Georgia boy is also gearing up for 2013.
Unadilla’s own David Ragan will drive the No. 34 for Front Row Motorsports in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series again this year.
Ragan finished 28th in the points standings last season, so he’s not looking to dominate NASCAR’s top series in 2013. He just wants his team to improve.
“It’s no secret that Front Row Motorsports is a smaller team,” Ragan told the media this week in Charlotte. “With David Gilliland and myself full-time and Josh Wise in the 26 car as well, we need to just continue to get better.”
SpeedFest 2013
This weekend, you can see both Georgia drivers in action at Cordele’s Watermelon Capital Speedway.
SpeedFest 2013 will feature two big races Sunday afternoon. The ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS/CRA All-Stars will both take to the track, but first, Elliott, Ragan and other NASCAR drivers, including Chase’s dad, Bill, will sign autographs at 12:30.
The green flag drops on the races at 2.
