City Of Fort Valley Receives Grant To Start 1.4 Million Dollar Road Project
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Fort Valley is working to improve access to Fort Valley State University by widening State University Drive. The city of Fort Valley received the Tiger Grant which will help pay for the project. Peach County is also helping to pay for the road construction.
Road crews were out Wednesday afternoon getting the road ready for the 1.4 million dollar face-lift. Chief Facilities Officer Dwayne Crew hopes the improvements to State University Drive will help take away some of the congestion.
“If you notice, there is not enough turn space coming down the street. It narrows as it gets to the main entrance to the campus. This construction will give a turning lane all the way to the end of the street,” said Dewayne Crew, Chief Facilities Officer at Fort Valley State University.
The State University Road Project is expected to be finished by October.
