Perry moves forward with phase 2 of Sadie Heights flood mitigation project
According to city officials, phase 1 included replacing culverts beneath Stonegate Trail and was substantially completed during the summer of 2026.

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The City of Perry is moving forward with the second phase of the Sadie Heights/Stonegate Trail Flood Mitigation Project to help reduce flooding in local neighborhoods.
According to city officials, phase 1 included replacing culverts beneath Stonegate Trail and was substantially completed during the summer of 2026.
Following an evaluation of potential solutions, the city selected a design intended to reduce flood levels while meeting environmental permitting requirements.
Perry Mayor and City Council recently awarded the phase 2 construction contract to LeClay Construction.
The company will work with affected property owners and homeowners associations to provide updates on construction schedules and safety measures.
Construction will generally take place Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with substantial completion expected by late spring or early summer 2027, weather permitting.
Once completed, the project is expected to lower flood levels enough to place all homes in Sadie Heights and Stonegate above the 100-year flood level. However, city officials say occasional flooding may still occur during larger storms.
