Trump announces $4 billion Audi manufacturing plant in Peach County, bringing 4,500 jobs
The German automaker plans to develop the facility at the 1,474-acre Middle Georgia Megasite along Georgia Highway 96 near Interstate 75.

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)— President Donald Trump announced Saturday, during a visit to Perry that Audi plans to build its first U.S. manufacturing facility in this area, bringing an estimated $4 billion investment and approximately 4,500 jobs to Middle Georgia.
The German automaker plans to develop the facility at the 1,474-acre Middle Georgia Megasite along Georgia Highway 96 near Interstate 75 in Peach County.
According to the Mid-Georgia Gateway Joint Development Authority, Audi expects to begin grading the property in 2027, with construction scheduled to begin in 2028.
Although the manufacturing plant will be located in Peach County, local leaders say its economic benefits and employment opportunities are expected to extend throughout Middle Georgia, including Macon-Bibb and Houston counties.
The announcement marks a major development for a regional partnership formed earlier this year to attract industrial investment to the area.
How three Middle Georgia counties worked together to attract Audi
Peach, Macon-Bibb, and Houston counties formed the Mid-Georgia Gateway Joint Development Authority (MGGJDA) on May 19, 2026.
The partnership was created to guide development, marketing and recruitment efforts for the Middle Georgia Megasite.
Rather than pursuing major industrial investments separately, the three counties joined forces to present the property as a regional opportunity.
The authority worked with Audi, the Georgia Department of Economic Development and other partners to coordinate site information, infrastructure planning and local decisions.
Peach County Commission Chairman Roy Lewis, who also chairs the joint development authority, said Audi’s decision reflects the vision local leaders had for the site.
“The decision by Audi realizes the vision we had for the Middle Georgia Megasite – an innovative, global automotive OEM that will position the region as a premier hub for innovation and industry,” Lewis said.
Lewis said the authority will continue working with Audi, the state and regional partners to develop programs that prepare Georgians for future jobs.
What Audi’s investment means for Macon-Bibb and Houston counties
While the facility will be built in Peach County, leaders in Macon-Bibb and Houston counties helped recruit the company.
Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller said bringing the investment to Middle Georgia required cooperation across county lines.
“The impact this investment will have on our entire region will be felt for many decades, and that meant we had to come together as cohesive partners to make it happen,” Miller said.
“We all knew the only thing that mattered was showing them that Middle Georgia was the best place to locate, and that this was the community they wanted to be part of.”
Houston County Commission Chairman Dan Perdue said the region will now focus on preparing its workforce and infrastructure for Audi’s arrival.
“This investment further recognizes the preparation that has positioned our region as a workforce and innovation leader in Georgia,” Perdue said.
Perdue said the counties will continue working together on workforce development, infrastructure readiness and supporting the company’s long-term operations.
The joint development authority says the project is expected to create opportunities for workers throughout Middle Georgia, support local suppliers and strengthen the region’s tax base.
When will Audi begin construction in Peach County?
Audi’s announced development timeline calls for grading to begin in 2027.
Construction of the manufacturing facility is expected to begin in 2028.
The announcement does not specify when the plant will open or when hiring for the approximately 4,500 positions will begin.
As the project advances, the joint development authority says it will continue working with Audi and other partners on permitting, construction, hiring, workforce training and long-term operations.
