MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Milledgeville man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine as part of a drug trafficking operation, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia.

Federal prosecutors say 41-year-old Cory Wilson helped obtain and distribute large quantities of methamphetamine during the operation.

U.S. District Judge Marc T. Treadwell sentenced Wilson Wednesday to 120 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. Wilson pleaded guilty July 20 to one count of distributing methamphetamine.

There is no parole in the federal prison system.

According to court documents, federal agents began investigating people distributing methamphetamine in Baldwin County in early 2023.

Prosecutors say agents conducted four controlled purchases involving approximately 162 grams of methamphetamine between April and July 2023. Wilson and 36-year-old Katherine Short-Barcenas also sold methamphetamine twice to a confidential source in March 2023, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Federal prosecutors say seven defendants have pleaded guilty in the case:

  • 39-year-old Ruby Fogg of Austell was sentenced to 27 years in prison and 10 years of supervised release for conspiracy to possess methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
  • 43-year-old Robert Matthew Wood of Marietta was sentenced to 21 years and 10 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
  • 35-year-old Desmond Glenn of Milledgeville was sentenced to 21 years and eight months in prison and 10 years of supervised release for drug conspiracy and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
  • 39-year-old Tony Baker of Macon was sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison and three years of supervised release for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
  • Short-Barcenas was sentenced to four years in prison and five years of supervised release for distributing methamphetamine.
  • Wilson was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years of supervised release.
  • 38-year-old Rodney May of Milledgeville pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute. His sentencing is scheduled for May 12, 2027. Prosecutors say he faces at least 15 years in prison and could receive a life sentence.

Court documents identify Fogg as the leader of the operation. Prosecutors say Fogg and Wood used Atlanta-area hotel rooms to store and sell drugs.

During a November 2023 traffic stop involving Glenn, May and Baker, officers recovered nearly 1 kilogram of methamphetamine and two firearms, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Investigators later searched Glenn’s Milledgeville home and recovered approximately 65 additional grams of methamphetamine and five firearms, prosecutors said.

Fogg and Wood were arrested two days later. Investigators searching their hotel room recovered approximately 155 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to the release.
