18-year-old Gray woman killed in three-vehicle crash in Laurens County

Georgia State Patrol says the crash happened at Georgia 31 and Springhaven Road and involved a Chevrolet Colorado, Peterbilt and Chevrolet Camaro.

DUBLIN, Georgia- An 18-year-old woman from Gray was killed Sunday night in a three-vehicle crash in Laurens County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Troopers from Post 20 Dublin responded around 8:32 p.m. on September 27 to the intersection of Georgia 31 and Springhaven Road.

Investigators say a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling east on Springhaven Road and failed to stop at the intersection with Georgia 31.

The Colorado entered the intersection and struck the left side of a flatbed trailer being pulled by a 1995 Peterbilt 379 traveling north on Georgia 31, according to the preliminary investigation.

The impact caused the Colorado to rotate and travel north in the southbound lane, where it then struck the front of a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro traveling south on Georgia 31.

The front-seat passenger in the Colorado, 18-year-old Ella Jenkins of Gray, was ejected and suffered fatal injuries. Authorities say her next of kin has been notified.

Jones County High School later identified Jenkins as a member of the Class of 2026.

In a post on the school’s Facebook page, the school remembered Jenkins as a classmate, softball teammate, and friend.

“Ella walked these halls. She wore the purple and gold. She was a classmate, softball teammate, friend, and forever a Greyhound,” the school wrote.

The school said it is keeping Jenkins’ family, friends, classmates, teammates, teachers, and coaches in its thoughts.

The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and is assisting with the investigation.

Georgia 31 was closed for about two and a half hours during the crash investigation and roadway cleanup.

The investigation remains active.
