5 men shot at Anthony Road and Mercer University Drive intersection in Macon

The victims, ages 18 to 24, arrived at medical facilities in personal vehicles. Investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Five men are in stable condition after a shooting Wednesday night near Anthony Road and Mercer University Drive, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting was reported to the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center at 8:53 p.m. Deputies responded after receiving a ShotSpotter alert and reports of gunfire in the area.

The sheriff’s office says the five victims later arrived at local medical facilities in personal vehicles. The victims include a 23-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and three 18-year-old men.

Video shared by the sheriff’s office on Facebook showed a car at Atrium Health Navicent surrounded by crime scene tape. The car had a shattered window and several apparent bullet holes across its body.

The sheriff’s office did not provide additional information about the car or explain how it was connected to the shooting.

Investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting.
